The IHC had converted the letters of two judges in applications and formed two separate benches to hear the case.

A three-member bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Arbab Tahir would hear the matter of campaign against Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kyani.

Moreover, the other larger bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan will hear the case on the complaint of Justice Babar Sattar.

Last week, Justice Kayani sought contempt proceedings on “malicious” social media campaigns against judges. He made the request in a letter to IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.

Earlier, reports said that another IHC judge Justice Babar Sattar had requested CJ Farooq for contempt proceedings after personal details of his and his family, including their US residence permits, were posted online.

Justice Sattar pointed out that the privacy of his family members was breached, and their identity cards and permanent residency cards were uploaded to social media.

Last month, the Islamabad High Court clarified that Justice Sattar does not hold dual nationality, amid a ‘malicious’ social media campaign against him after a letter was written to the Supreme Judicial Council.

The campaign started against the backdrop of a letter from six IHC judges to the five members of the Supreme Judicial Council. Justice Sattara and Justice Kayani are two of the six IHC judges who have complained of interference in judicial affairs by the country’s intelligence apparatus.
