Chicken price falls by Rs39/kg in Lahore

Chicken price fell by Rs39 per kilogramme in the retail market of Punjab’s Lahore on Monday, bringing the new rate of the meat to Rs416/kg.

On Sunday, the chicken meat was being sold at Rs455/kg.

The development comes as Muslims across the country prepare for Eidul Azha. In the past, a decrease in the rate of chicken meat is seen when the religious festival comes in.

Media reports said that the chicken price fell about Rs200 over the last 20 days in Peshawar. It was Rs540/kg around three weeks ago.

Sellers attributed such a decrease to the excessive stock in the stores. They added that the rate would further increase when the excessive stock ends.
