PEMRA urges Justice Sattar to recuse himself from Bushra Bibi audio leak case

The Bushra Bibi audio leak case is currently being heard at the Islamabad High Court. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has urged Justice Babar Sattar to recuse himself from the case.

PEMRA filed a plea at the Islamabad High Court seeking the recusal of the justice who is set to hear the case again on April 29.

The case revolves around an alleged leaked audio clip containing a conversation between Bushra Bibi and Najam Saqib, the son of former chief justice of Pakistan Justice (rtd) Saqib Nisar.

PEMRA has submitted a miscellaneous application in the Islamabad High Court, seeking recusal of the judge, citing that the Islamabad High Court bench had already made a separate decision in another case.

The application argues that the chairman of PEMRA has presented before the court multiple times in previous proceedings but the case is still pending.

In its plea, PEMRA has appealed to Justice Babar Sattar to excuse himself from the hearing in order to fulfill the demands of justice.

Furthermore, the application requests that a bench designated to handle such matters should proceed with the remaining proceedings of the case.

It is worth mentioning that the son of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar has also challenged the parliamentary committee regarding the audio leak issue.
