He also posted the video of individuals trapped in their roofs in an informal settlement in Nairobi.

According to the Kenya Red Cross Society, they successfully conducted a rescue operation in the Mathare 4A neighborhood, saving 18 individuals who were stranded as a result of heavy rains and subsequent floodwaters in Nairobi last night.

It said that it did life-saving operations in other parts of the country.

Nairobi’s two major highways faced heavy traffic on Wednesday after the flood flowed.

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority has implemented partial closures on four heavily affected roads, while also issuing warnings of potential flooding on two additional roads.

“The traffic police and our technical team are on the ground to direct traffic and enhance the safety of motorists,” the organization reported.

Kenya Railways suspended train services nationwide.

“We are compelled to take these precautionary measures because the safety of our customers is always of paramount importance to us,” the operator said.

On Wednesday, the Kenya Meteorological Department updated people for heavy rainfall.

“Continued rainfall is anticipated across various parts of the country as indicated in the Wednesday and Thursday rainfall forecast maps,” KMD said.
