Karachi commissioner ordered the ban citing a letter from the additional inspector general of Police (AIGP) who has informed officials that “there are serious threats to vital installations by the Anti-State Elements / Hostile agencies in the wake of recent attacks on foreigners.”

Japanese nationals were attacked by three terrorists on Saturday in Karachi’s Landhi area in a bomb and gun attack which left two attackers and a private security guard dead.

According to the Karachi Commissioner, the police have requested an “imposition of ban on use of drones on entire knits of Karachi Metropolis for a period of 7 days.”

The commissioner said he was imposing a ban on flying drones for a period of seven days between April 22 and April 28.

The ban also coincides with the visit of Iranian President Raisi to the city. Raisi will arrive in Karachi on Tuesday. The city has been put on a high alert with several road being closed for the visit.
