The incident took near a private housing society located on the Superhighway. The man allegedly tried to assault the woman, who had recently returned from the US, at gunpoint after which she filed a complaint.

The suspect, identified as Zeenat Rof, has been apprehended by the police and will be in police custody for two days.

According to the victim’s statement given to the police, she had booked the taxi on April 10. 

The woman stated that the driver pulled out a weapon and attempted to assault her, prompting her to raise an alarm.

The victim revealed that, upon shouting, the driver resorted to violence and made an attempt to assault her. 

The driver tried to flee from the area, making a U-turn and heading towards her residence.

The woman said that she noticed a civilian’s vehicle, and she honked the car’s horn, resulting in the driver pointing the gun at her once again. 

The driver fired a shot and threatened her not to inform anyone about this scene, but she escaped.

The CCTV footage helped police arrest the suspect and recover the vehicle and weapon.

The case was registered at Gadap City police station on April 13. The police revealed that the suspect had a fake number plate on the taxi.
