The killing — which according to the police occurred on the night between March 17 and March 18 – was recorded on a mobile phone camera and the video went viral on social media.

The video shows the accused smothering the victim, Maria, by pressing a pillow on her face for three minutes as she lies on a charpoy.

The father and other members of the family looked on as the murder took place. The father even offered water to the accused after killing his sister. 

The police registered a case against the father-son duo for the murder and authorities exhumed the bodies to obtain samples for forensic analysis.

According to the police, the incident happened in Chak 277 JB, Toba Tek Singh. 

The police filed a case after the video surfaced.

Toba Tek Singh District Police Officer Ibadat Nisar said that the incident was reported by another brother of the victim present at the scene.

The brother also shared that the father and the accused had sexually assaulted Maria in the past.
