Pakistan sets minimum Sadaqah-e-Fitr, Fidya rates at Rs300 for 2024

Shariah Board Pakistan Chairman Sheikh Al-Hadith Professor Dr. Mufti Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Jalali has announced the minimum Sadaqah-e-Fitr and Fidya for Ramazan 2024.

The minimum Sadaqah-e-Fitr was set at Rs300 per person, roughly equivalent to two kilogrammes of wheat flour. Similarly, Fidya for skipping a fast due to health reasons has been set at Rs300 per person.

While emphasising the importance of philanthropists and affluent individuals contributing Sadaqah-e-Fitr and Fidya in accordance with their financial capacity, he said that the values set for different food items were Rs600 for oats, Rs2,400 for dates, and Rs4,400 for raisins.

Dr Jalali outlined the Fidya rates for fasting the entire month of Ramazan, set at Rs9,000 for wheat flour, Rs18,000 for oats, Rs72,000 for dates, and Rs132,000 for raisins.

However, he clarified that Fidya for fasting was intended for individuals who were chronically ill or unable to fast with no prospect of recovery.

Read: IIU orders Dawah Academy to end Rs5,000 fee for itikaf at Faisal Mosque

Travelers and those temporarily unable to fast were obligated to make up for missed fasts, as Fidya could not be a substitute for abstaining from fasting, he concluded.
