The crescent moon was sighted in Lahore and Peshawar as Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad officially announced the beginning of the holy month.

Maulana Azad presided over a meeting in Peshawar convened for the Ramazan moon sighting of Hijri year 1445.

Earlier, Maulana Azad expressed hopes that the holy month begins on the same day throughout the country.

He also called on Pakistanis to look for the Ramazan moon tomorrow evening.

The meetings of other zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees were held simultaneously at their respective places.

The crescent moon for the holy month was sighted a day earlier in most Gulf countries.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates announced the beginning of the holy of Ramazan on Monday, March 11, after the sighting of the crescent by the moon-sighting committee on Sunday, Khaleej Times reported.

The sighting of crescent marks the beginning of the month in the Islamic Hijri calendar.

According to the Saudi Supreme Court, the crescent was spotted on Sunday evening, marking the last day of Sha’ban month.
