&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Shehbaz Sharif took oath as the 24th prime minister of Pakistan  in a solemn ceremony held in the President House on Monday.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;President Arif Alvi administered oath to the newly-elected PM. The ceremony was attended by members of Shahbaz’s family as well as major party leaders and members of the caretaker cabinet.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Zardari also attended the ceremony. The speaker of the National Assembly and chairman of senate were also present during the oath taking.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The chief ministers of Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab also attended the ceremony.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Sahir Shamshad were also present in the meeting.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar sat on President Arif Alvi’s left side.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;He was given a guard of honour upon arrival at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Shehbaz was elected as PM after securing 201 votes in the National Assembly on Sunday. His opponent, Sunni Ittehad Council’s Omar Ayub Khan, received 92 votes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The younger Sharif contested the election for PM as the joint candidate of a multi-party alliance that included Pakistan Peoples Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Balochistan Awami Party and others.&lt;/p&gt;
