Naji was under treatment at a private hospital in Lahore where he passed away.

Naji was born in 1937 and was a celebrated columnist and journalist. He was affiliated with Jang Group for over two decades, eventually leaving to join Dunya in 2012.

He was also awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his services.

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed grief over Naji’s death and said his services for journalism would be remembered.
