      <title>Rupee gains against dollar in interbank</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The US dollar weakened against the Pakistani rupee in the interbank foreign exchange market on Monday.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The greenback shed one paisa and was trading at Rs279.35 at the closing of the market, as against the closing of Rs279.36 on Friday, February 16.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In the open market, the buying of the dollar was recorded at Rs279.3 while it was quoted at Rs282.2 for selling at the time of filing the story.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In the international market, the dollar held steady on Monday after ticking higher for a fifth straight week on the back of strong inflation data, while the yen traded near the psychologically important 150 level.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;US markets are closed for the Presidents’ Day holiday, with trading volumes likely to be low throughout the day.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The dollar index, which tracks the currency against six peers, was last little changed at 104.18, after rising 0.18% the previous week.&lt;/p&gt;
