CJP Isa called a meeting of the supreme court judges in the chief justice chamber soon after Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta accused the chief election commissioner and CJP Isa of being involved in election rigging.

“These are baseless allegations without any proof and evidence. You can accuse me of anything,” he told journalists in Islamabad.

According to CJP Isa, the accuser will need to provide proof and evidence in support of their allegations.

Earlier today, Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta stepped down from his post, saying he made returning officers under him to change results for at least 13 MNA candidates in Rawalpindi Division.

Chatta said he was handing himself over to the police for election rigging and he deserved capital punishment. In a rather dramatic way, he said he should be hung at Rawalpindi’s Ketcheri Chowk.

The Rawalpindi commissioner also claimed that candidates who were losing the election were declared winners with a lead of 50,000 votes each.
