‘Electoral fraud’: PTI cancels protests at central points

The PTI has revised its protest plans and decided to limit it outside the returning officers’ offices. Earlier, the party announced its decision to protest at central against the alleged vote-rigging on Sunday (today) as the party demands the release of election results.

In a post on X, party leader Hammad Azhar said that the PTI is a “peaceful party” that has ushered in a “revolution” through the ballot.

“Our mandate is being stolen but we will not allow our struggle to be hijacked by nefarious designs. Therefore today’s protests at all central points cancelled. Workers to protest only outside RO offices where form 47 were forged,” he said.

Pakistan went to polls on February 8 to elect a new government. The provisional result issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan has shown that independent candidates backed by the PTI have secured more than 100 National Assembly seats.

But the PTI has also made allegations of rigging in the elections and many of its leaders have challenged the constituencies’ results in the court.
