Heavy rain hit Karachi on Saturday resulting in urban flooding roads and choked traffic in the metropolis, however, the residents of the green belts in the city’s suburbs welcomed the downpour.

Agriculture fields’ owners in Malir and Darsana Chana and Kathore in Gadap Town were happy with the recent rainfall as their crops breathed to life following the downpour.

The farmers grow several crops including wheat, vegetables and fruits in the green belts of the metropolis. They have also built underground tankers to store rainwater for use.

On the other hand, Heavy rain resulted in urban flooding at major point in the city a day earlier as the Met Office forecasted that intermittent rain was expected on Sunday.

According to Aaj News, heavy downpours were reported in Gadap Town, Bahria Town, Nazimabad, M.A Jinnah Road and Gulshan-e-Maymar.

Meanwhile, electricity supply to several areas was suspended 18 hours after heavy rain first hit parts of the city.

As many as 50 feeders have been affected by the rainfall as Model Colony and Kazimabad witnessed a power shutdown for around 18 hours.

An official of K-Electric said that the power supply to low-laying areas was suspended due to water accumulation. The maintenance work will be done after the drainage of rainwater.
