Khan claims receiving ‘offer’ before his conviction

Former prime minister Imran Khan has claimed that he received an “offer when he was imprisoned in the Attock Jail which he explicitly rejected.

“I was offered a deal to stay quiet for three years and stay in Bani Gala,” he said in an informal conversation with reporters on Friday. “I gave the same answer that a person chanting slogans of ‘real freedom’ should give.”

He spoke to reporters during a break in the 11-hour-long proceedings of the Iddat case. The judgement on the case is due today (Saturday).

Senior civil judge Qudrat Ullah reserved judgement after recording the statements of Mr Khan and Bushra Bibi under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

“I received this offer when I was in the Attock Jail. This message revealed the terms of the establishment that everyone will take turns,” he said without explaining the context.

He went on to add that he did not sign the statement recorded under Section 342 of the CrPC and wondered about its decision. Khan alleged that it was edited.

The PTI founder claimed that the PML-N and the ECP had hacked the new election system and warned all parties of tampered election results.

When asked, he shunned the impression that his wife was shifted to Banigala to serve a 14-year sentence under a deal.
