British Trust ends association with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

The British Asian Trust has cut ties with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, after a video went viral on social media two days ago showing him assaulting a man.

A local publication, The News reported that a spokesperson of the British Asian Trust, founded by King Charles III, said it decided to cease association with Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan the reviewing the video.

“The British Asian Trust has a strict policy towards abusive behaviour which led them to cease association with Mr Khan. We strongly condemn any form of violence whatever the circumstances,” a statement said..

The statement issued by the Trust immediately after the video went viral on social media, said that the Trust took all accusations and allegations seriously.

The video shows Khan attacking a band member with slaps, kicks, and even his shoes and asking him for a “bottle”, while the victim requests him to stop. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan issued the clarification after the video began receiving serious responses to the controversy that appeared on Saturday night.

    <iframe
        class="nk-iframe" onload="setInterval(()=>{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)"
        width="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="height:400px;position:relative"

        sandbox="allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms">

However, the man said to be his student claimed that he was asking for the bottle filled with water given by the spiritual leader, which he failed to provide.

“The video is an internal matter of a teacher and a student. We do love a student over a good deed, as well as punish him if he commits a mistake,” the star singer said in a video statement issued on his official Instagram account.

King Charles appointed the Pakistani singer as ambassador of the British Asian Trust at the trust’s fourth annual dinner at the Guildhall in February 2017. The trust runs many projects in South Asian countries where Rahat Fateh Ali has performed.
