Underaged driver case: Petitioner rejects prospect of deal

The petitioner in the case of the underaged driver who allegedly killed six people has refuted reports that a deal could take place behind the scenes.

Rafaqat Ali, who is the petitioner in the case, had issued a video statement saying that he will not accept money to forgive the crime and no such deal is in the works.

He added that he was looking towards the police and courts for justice and still hoped to get it.

Ali had claimed earlier that he had been receiving threats to withdraw the case against the underaged driver.

He had claimed that the threats had mentioned that he had a son and three daughters and could regret the litigation later.

In November last year, Ali was returning along with his family from a visit to his daughter’s house in Lahore’s Defence when a speeding car slammed into one of their vehicles, killing six members of his family.

    <iframe
        class="nk-iframe" onload="setInterval(()=>{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)"
        width="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="height:400px;position:relative"

        sandbox="allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms">

Ali had filed a case that led to the arrest of an underaged driver who lived in Askari 11. The driver had later told police that he was a student of eighth grade.

Under the penal code, negligent drivers that endnagers someone’s life can lead to a three-year jail sentence.
