In a first, CJP Isa shares first quarterly report of Supreme Court

Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa shared the details of the first quarterly report of the Supreme Court in the country’s history, containing details of cases from September 17 to December 16.

“A total of 5,305 were disposed of by the Supreme Court in three months which means more than 850 cases were disposed of,” he said while addressing a training workshop for reporters in the apex court on Saturday.

The report contains details of the cases starting from the day Justice Isa took oath as the country’s 29th chief justice of Pakistan. Over the last three months, he has conducted live proceedings of more than four cases – including lifetime disqualification, PTI petition seeking restoration of bat symbol, and SC Practice and Procedure Bill.

At the event, the CJP said that the top court was trying to dispose of as many cases as possible to avoid pendency.

    <iframe
        class="nk-iframe" onload="setInterval(()=>{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)"
        width="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="height:400px;position:relative"
        src="https://www.aajenglish.tv/news/card/30333970"
        sandbox="allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms">

At least 504 cases were disposed of and 335 new cases were filed in the last week that ended on Friday, the chief justice of Pakistan said and described the unveiling of the report as a kind of accountability.

“Every institution in Pakistan is of the people and they are run by people’s money,” he said, highlighting that such a record ensures accountability and transparency.

While speaking about laws in Pakistan, CJP Isa said that many laws say that the chief justice or his representative would be part of the university’s syndicate or board. “But it was ignored in the past. If you want to change any nation than there is only one way: education.”

He went on to add that better educational institutions would urge students to avoid studying abroad, saving the foreign exchange.

“The truth set you free,” he said and told journalists that they can disagree with jurists but the aim should be same to seek truth.
