Lahore bound Shalimar Express derails near Karachi

The Lahore-bound Shalimar Express derailed near Badal Nala Railways station on Monday when three of its bogies veered off the tracks, according to officials.

They confirmed that all passengers remained safe, and they were subsequently relocated to Karachi’s Cantt Station. Passengers were accommodated in other trains.

A railways official reported that a relief operation was promptly initiated after the incident, and the track was repaired as well. However, the relief operation affected the schedule of other trains.

The Khyber Mail from Peshawar had to be halted at Jhang Shahi Station, and the Hazara Express heading to Karachi was stopped at Jumma Goth Station, as both tracks needed to be closed during the relief operation.

The railways official mentioned that passengers were adjusted on the Lahore-bound Pak Business Express after the track was restored.

    <iframe

Pakistan Railways launched an investigation into the incident to determine its causes.

Although they initially believed that the wheels of the bogies opened up, causing some trolleys of the train to overturn, an preliminary report suggests that the accident occurred due to the negligence of the train driver, according to APP.
