On Sunday, Hasan bid Farwell to the show named after him The Mehdi Hasan Show and the US news channel MSNBC ‘to look for new challenges’ on the live programme.

In 2021, the former Al Jazeera journalist had joined the MSNBC. He moved to the US in 2015 to work with the Qatar-based news channel after working in television news and the Huffington Post in Britain. He also hosted a podcast for the online publication The Intercept.

“It’s my last day with MSNBC. Yes, I’ve decided to leave. To be clear, I am so, so proud of what we’ve achieved on this show on this network, and I can’t thank you enough for tuning in and for your support, and for your feedback. But as they say, new year, new plans,” he had said as he signed off.

But Ruffalo, who played Hulk in the Avengers series, said he would continue to follow Hasan’s work in future.
