PMD forecasts light rain today

Amid the ongoing winter wave, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain in Karachi and south Balochistan. However, other parts of the country will witness cold and dry weather during the next 24 hours.

PMD Director Irfan Virk says there are chances of light rain or drizzling in coastal areas of southern Balochistan and Karachi, including Makran today (Wednesday).

The Met Office added that the coldness and dry weather will persist in the northern areas of the country and north Balochistan as well, where the mercury is likely to decline to minus on scale.

The lowest temperatures recorded were Leh -11C, Skardu -9C, Gilgit, Gupis -6C, Astore, Kalam, Kalat, and Srinagar -5C.

Additionally, the thick layer of the fog will persist in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, and Islamabad during this week.

Authorities have advised people to be cautioned amid foggy weather.

Fog in various areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa forced authorities to close certain routes, to avoid incidents.

Motorways M1 and M2 have been closed for traffic which affected the schedule of flights at Islamabad Airport where most flights are delayed or cancelled, as the smog did not allow thoroughfare.
