Pakistan sees decline in car, motorcycle imports

Pakistan has seen a decrease of 42.77 per cent in the import of completely knocked-down (CKD) and semi-knocked-down (SKD) products during the first five months of the current fiscal year.

The South Asian country’s import of CKD/SKD products stood at $370.835 million from July to November whereas the imports totaled $647.943 million in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data showed.

Moreover, import of buses, trucks, and other heavy vehicles decline by 57.24%, falling from $168.552 million to $72.065 million. The imports of motor cars fell by 38.42 per cent. The import of motorcycles also fell by 23.65% from $24.035 million to $18.350 million.

The decline in imports indicated a shifting trend in market dynamics, according to the state-run news agency APP. The data suggested a complex scenario in the import landscape, impacting various sectors, including heavy vehicles, motor cars, and motorcycles.
