Police book K-Electric officials for making woman apologise on video

The Karachi police on Wednesday booked two officials of the K-Electric who allegedly forced a woman to apologise on video inside a police station and made it viral on social media.

The first information report of the alleged mistreatment was filed at the Iqbal Market police station on the complaint of a police official.

According to the FIR, the K-Electric official brought the victim, identified as Tayyaba Maryam to the police station on December 22 after a verbal spat. However, ASI Ali Haider sent the woman home after she submitted a written apology, it added.

Despite the policeman settling the issue, the suspects Syed Ali Akbar and Fayyaz made the victim apologise on video and made the clip viral in an alleged attempt to insult her, the report said.

ASI Muhammad Ikhlaq, the complainant, said that the suspects, who were K-Electric employees, were identified through the CCTV footage.
