PTI approaches SC for level playing field

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan to get a level playing field in general elections 2024 amid reports of hurdles in filing of nomination papers.

Filed through lawyer Shoaib Shaheen on Thursday, the petition has made federal and provincial governments as well as the Election Commission of Pakistan its respondents.

“It is most respectfully prayed that this Honourable Court may be graciously pleased to direct the respondents to provide level playing field to the PTI for the purpose of free and fair election, in the interest of justice,” the petition says

The petition also asks the court to order the government to refrain from harassing PTI’s workers and leaders and letting them participate in the election without discrimination.

    <iframe
        class="nk-iframe" onload="setInterval(()=>{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)"
        width="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="height:400px;position:relative"
        src="https://www.aajenglish.tv/news/card/30345023"
        sandbox="allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms">

The petition was filed after a similar complaint regarding snatching of nomination papers was filed in the Election Commission of Pakistan by the party.

Elsewhere, Peshawar High Court ordered that the issue of PTI’s electoral symbols be left to the ECP while the Islamabad High Court also dashed the parties hopes by refusing to suspend the Toshakhana verdict against Imran Khan.
