The Punjab Transport Department has decided to slash the fares by 10 per cent, as the caretaker government stressed that the impact of diesel price cut should reach masses.

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider and the Regional Transport Authority Secretary visited different bus stands and ordered the transporters to slash the fares.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has tasked all the deputy commissioners with decreasing the intercity transport fares. He has ordered her to take action against those transporters who refuse to slash prices by 12pm.

“The direct impact of the cut in fuel prices should got to the people,” he said while presiding over a meeting.

The development comes two days after the caretaker government slashed the price of petrol by Rs14 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs13.5 per litre for the next fortnight.

The new price of petrol is Rs267.34 and Rs276.21 for HSD.

Kerosene oil price was also recorded by Rs10.14 to Rs191.02 per litre. The price of light diesel oil was decreased by Rs11.29 to reach Rs164.64 per litre.
