“The suspects opened fire on the martyred head constable Mohammad Ashraf who attempted to catch the burglars who were committing a dacoity,” they added.

His son was also shot by the alleged burglars when he came to his father’s aid, according to the police. The deceased policeman was deployed at Police Lines Headquarters.

A huge contingency of police was deployed on the scene along with senior police officials, while a search operation was underway in the area to arrest the accused.

ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan also took notice of the incident and directed the authorities to arrest the accused.
