Condolences and tributes continue to pour in for Rehmat Shah Afridi, the founder of the Frontier Post, who died on Saturday at the age of 74.

Punjab Information Minister Amir Mir said in his message that he paid ‘tribute’ to Afridi’s services to journalism.

He said that Frontier Post had created a massive name for itself in the country in a brief time.

Mir said that Afridi had resisted dictatorships in the country and had paid a price for it by being sent to jail but had still refused to budge from his viewpoint.

The minister said that Afridi’s work would be remembered for a long time and prayed for him to be blessed with heaven.

Afridi had passed away on Saturday at the age of 74. He is survived by his sons, Mahmood Ullah Afridi, Jalil Afridi, Bilal Afridi and Ahmad Shah Afridi.

“It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to a true pioneer of English journalism in the frontier part of Pakistan, Rehmat Shah Afridi, who departed from our midst just moments ago,” his son Bilal Afridi had announced.

His funeral prayers were offered in Hayatabad in Peshawar on Sunday.
