Former accountability czar Shahzad Akbar claimed he was attacked with acid in London on Sunday.

In a post on X on Monday, Akbar claimed he was attacked at his address where he lives with his family in ‘exile’.

He added that unknown men had thrown ‘acidic liquid’ on him.

“Thankfully my wife and children are safe, however I got some injuries but nothing life-threatening,” he said.

Akbar added that he had called the police and his house was now being protected.

“I will not be intimidated nor bow down to those who are doing this,” he wrote.

Akbar, who served as an adviser to Imran Khan on accountability and interior when the latter was prime minister, was known as the main driver behind the government’s accountability drive. He also formed the the Assets Recover Unit to bring back ‘stolen’ money abroad.

However, the former adviser has been outside Pakistan since Imran Khan’s government was removed through a no-confidence vote.
