According to international sports news outlet ESPN, under the new rules approved by the ICC Board on Tuesday, any player who has transitioned from male to female and has passed any form of male puberty will not be allowed to participate in women’s international cricket, regardless of surgery or gender assignment treatment they have been through.

Due to these new rules and regulations, ICC’s first transgender player Daniel McGeehe, who featured in international cricket earlier this year, will no longer be able to participate in women’s international sports.

Daniel McGehee is from Australia who moved to Canada in 2020, and underwent medical procedures to become a man-turned-woman in 2021, in September 2023 he represented Canada in the T20 World Cup 2024 qualifier.

Daniel Mack has played 6 T20s so far, scoring 118 runs at an average of 19.66 and a strike rate of 95.93.
