      <title>Omar Ayub Khan comes out of hiding to attend father’s funeral</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Omar Ayub Khan came out of hiding after six months, a day after his father, the former foreign minister of the country, Gohar Ayub Khan, passed away.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Omar Ayub Khan arrived in Rehana, Haripur, on Saturday, to attend his father’s funeral.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This is his first public appearance in months as he had been hiding evade arrest after being implicated in multiple cases related to May 9’s violent protests.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He is among a handful of PTI leaders who have managed to evade arrest so far and have still not quit the party. He had also been declared an absconder in several cases.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He was made the party’s secretary general after Asad Umar quit his position a few days after the May 9 incidents.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Although, he has regularly posted on X (Twitter), he was not seen in public or attended any political events.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He had announced the death of his father through a post on X as well and added that the funeral would take place in Rehana at 3pm on Saturday.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Omar had joined the PTI in 2018, just months before the party went on to win a general election and form government. He served as minister for petroleum, energy and economic affairs under Imran Khan.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;He had been active in politics till 1999.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He passed away in a private hospital in Islamabad after a brief illness.&lt;/p&gt;
