The government could decrease the price of diesel while increasing the price of petrol on Wednesday, according to sources.

The sources said that the price of diesel could be decreased by upto Rs8 while the price of petrol could be increased by Rs2 to Rs3.

However, the government could keep both prices unchanged as well.

Reports said that the decision on fuel prices will be influenced by the fluctuation in ex-refinery prices as well as the appreciation in the value of the dollar against the rupee.

The ex-refinery price of petrol is expected to increase from Rs199.16 on November 1 to Rs202.34 on November 15.

However, the ex-refinery price of diesel is expected to decrease from Rs225.72 to Rs217.52 on November 15.

OGRA will send the price summary to the Ministry of Petroleum on November 15. After consulting the Prime Minister, the Finance Ministry will give the final approval of prices.
