“DSP Chan Shah was leading a police party who was searching for the kidnappers of an 11-year-old girl in village Shah Noor when unidentified men ambushed them,” District Police Officer Iftikhar Shah told Aaj News. “In the firing, SHO Abdul Ali, constable Wahab, and Mohammad Alam were killed.”

He added that four others including a DSP were injured in the attack and were moved to the Tank Hospital.

“The three critically injured including DSP Shah, Ikram, and Riaz were later moved to District Hospital Dera Ismail Khan,” he said.

A heavy contingent of the police was deployed at the scene while the investigations have been initiated in the attack, he added.

The funeral prayers of the three police officers who were martyred in Tank were offered at the DPO office.
