• US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Tuesday on the G7 to speak “in a clear voice” about the Israel-Hamas war as he kicked off talks with fellow foreign ministers from the grouping in Japan.
• At least 152 people have been killed in the occupied West Bank and more than 1,400 in Israel during the same period.
• Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that his country will take “overall responsibility” of Gaza’s security for an indefinite period after its war with Hamas ends.

• Despite growing calls for a ceasefire from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and other world leaders, Netanyahu said he did not support one.

• A US submarine that deployed to the Middle East on Sunday is a guided missile submarine variant that is not capable of firing nuclear weapons, the Associated Press news agency reported citing a US defence official.

• The Palestinian representative at the UN, Riyad Mansour, has demanded accountability for “crimes” committed by Israel and blamed the US for blocking the UN ceasefire deal.

• The Red Crescent has appealed for urgent help, saying fuel at Gaza’s Al-Quds Hospital could run out in 48 hours and Al-Awda Hospital has warned of a similar breakdown by Wednesday night.

• UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has told reporters Gaza is “becoming a graveyard for children” as he renewed demands to reach the elusive ceasefire.

• Human Rights Watch has called for a weapons embargo on Israel and Palestinian armed groups.
