Veteran politician Sheikh Rasheed said on Monday that he will take on the Pakistan Democratic Movement in the next election and will not be deterred even by jail.

Speaking to reporters after Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench ordered to de-seal the Lal Haveli, Rasheed said he would contest the next election from both seats in the city as he had traditionally done.

Rasheed said that he had been arrested four times in the October 5 case already and if the police wanted to arrest him again, they should simply call him instead of picking up his employees.

He also said that he would stick with his ‘friends’ to his grave.

He also reiterated his condemnation for the incidents of May 9 and said it was done by ‘dirty’ people. He also said that Army Chief General Asim Munir was the pride of Rawalpindi and that he stood with the army.

Earlier, LHC’s Rawalpindi bench ordered that Lal Haveli de-sealed and that the Waqf Board should hear the property’s case.

Rasheed said that the matter of evacuee properties had been shut down for good in India but continued to persist in Pakistan.

Earlier, the LHC had rejected petitions to de-seal the Lal Haveli and said that its status should be remain unchanged until the matter was resolved by the board.

Rasheed, who had gone ‘missing’ for over a month, had recently surfaced in a TV interview and claimed he had been in solitary prayers for 40 days.
