The Karachi police also placed banners in several areas of the city urging illegal refugees to leave before November 1, or action will be taken against them.

In the message, the police also said that it was illegal to rent houses to refugees illegally living in Pakistan.

The Commissionerate of Afghan Refugees in Sindh has stated that a total of 800 families have returned back to their country in the ongoing month.

According to government data, out of 1.7 million Afghan refugees 52,000 have returned to their country.

Sources said that the Sindh government has compiled data on Afghan refugees living illegally in the country.

The provincial government will build Assembly Centres in the Labour Flats of Gulshan-e-Maymar to keep the illegal refugees before deporting them, they added.

In the initial stage, the Afghan refugees will be kept in the Assembly Centres built in Karachi and Jacobabad. They will then be shifted to the Pak-Afghan border in tight security.
