      <title>ECP considering setting January 28 for general elections: sources</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Election Commission of Pakistan is reported to have been considering announcing January 28 of next year as the date for the general elections, sources said on Friday.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In this regard, the top electoral body is expected to inform the relevant institutions within the next two days, they added.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The ECP is also set to apprise the SC after the top court sought the ECP’s response in the case of timely elections.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The development came a day after the &lt;a href="https://www.aajenglish.tv/news/30338371/ecp-rejects-alvi-statement-says-no-chance-of-delay-in-polls"&gt;ECP strongly denied&lt;/a&gt; impressions that general elections could see a further delay in the country.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In a statement, the ECP said that &lt;a href="https://www.aajenglish.tv/news/30338284/president-alvi-professes-love-for-imran-khan-pins-hopes-on-judiciary"&gt;President Arif Alvi’s comments&lt;/a&gt; in a recent interview had created an impression that a further delay in elections could be on the cards.&lt;/p&gt;
