Pakistan reaches second round of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Pakistan clinched their first-ever FIFA World Cup qualifying round victory after defeating Cambodia by 1-0 in the second leg at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Harun Hamid scored a winning goal for Pakistan as the green shirts downed Cambodia to reach the second round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier.

On October 12, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers witnessed a hard-fought goalless draw in the away-leg match between Pakistan and Cambodia at the Natonal Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Throughout the match, both the teams relentlessly attacked each other’s goals and tried their best to open their accounts, providing their sides with a lead on their opponents, yet they were unable to find the back of the net during both the halves, resulting in a 0-0 tie when the final whistle blew.

The second leg was held in Pakistan for the first time in 12 years. In 2011, the Pakistan team played in the World Cup Qualifier at home.
