The first information report has been registered on the complaint of officials under sections 4 (Punishment for marrying a child), 5 (Punishment for solemnizing a child marriage), 6 (Punishment for parent or guardian concerned in a child marriage) of the Child Marriage Restraint Act 1929, and section 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement).

The FIR stated that Ismail, a resident of Jhok Ditta of Faisalabad tied the knot with a minor girl 15 to 20 days ago and confined her.

The police after intelligence information held an operation and apprehended Ismail, while the girl was not at his home.

Police also arrested Qazi who had solemnised them and nominated him in the FIR.

However, the police were conducting raids to arrest the girl’s father and those who witnessed the Nikkah.
