The migratory birds stay in Pakistan from September to April and play a key role in cleaning the environment from the insects that cause harm to the human body.

These birds like to live near coastal areas because their favourite food are the wild plants which grow in freshwater such as rivers, lakes, and seas. Riverine areas of Punjab and Sindh welcome hundreds of birds every year but some catch them for business which is illegal in Pakistan.

People of Punjab’s Liaquatpur have laid 120 snares for hunting migrant birds that migrate their place every year, primarily targeting quail.

According to the Wildlife Department, the government of Punjab had banned the hunting but the residents were attempting to catch common quail without any fear.

The department has demanded that the government take action against those who are involved in those illegal practices.
