Earlier in the day, the institute predicted an earthquake in the Chaman fault line in the next two days. SSGEOS is a Research Institute that monitors the movements of celestial bodies related to seismic activity.

It’s the same institute that predicted the earthquake in Turkey earlier this year.

The research survey has reported that strong tremors have been recorded in the underground Chaman fault line in Balochistan and a powerful earthquake may occur in the area in the next two days depending on the intensity could be 6 or more.

“Earthquakes cannot be predicted in advance as to when and where an earthquake will occur. But natural disasters are an inevitable fact,” the information minister said.

Achakzai added that the emergency services – including MERC, PDMA, army, FC, civil administration, levies, police, fire brigade, and medical teams – were fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation and were monitoring the situation 24 hours a day.

He urged the citizens to remain calm and keep themselves informed through authentic sources and follow the safety measures issued by the government in case of emergency.

The caretaker provincial government was already taking action against illegal construction, he said and warned that construction against the building code and on drains could be dangerous in such a situation.

A similar press release was also issued by Quetta Division Commissioner Muhammad Hamza Shafaqat in which he also spoke about the security measures.
