Sanam Javed among five female PTI workers rearrested: report

Sanam Javed was among five female PTI workers who were rearrested on Monday, said a report, after a special court of anti-terrorism court in Lahore granted them bail in Jinnah House attack case.

“Five females including Sanam Javed and 6 male workers who were granted bail by ATC LHR on 23.09, re 9th May case have been reportedly rearrested from Kotlakhpat jail,” barrister Khadija Siddiqi said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

On Saturday, special court judge Arshad Javed announced the decision while hearing the bail petitions of 64 suspects.

The court approved the bail applications of nine suspects, including Sanam Javed, Rubina Jameel, Afshan Tariq, Ashman Shujjah, Shah Bano, Syed Faisal Akhtar, Qasim, Ali Hasan, and Hussain Qadri.

The court also ordered the nine suspects to submit worth Rs100,000 surety bonds.

The police had started cracking down on violent protesters who vandalised the state buildings and military installations following PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s first arrest in a graft case on May 9.

The former ruling party had condemned the violent protests and called for a judicial inquiry into the attacks.

But many PTI leaders after their release have parted ways with the party and condemned the May 9 incidents.
