“If you lose a match or bad performances happen, then the captain has the right to have a few words with the team,” he said during a show on a private channel.

However, Wasim said that leaking the discussion of the team members from the dressing room was not a good sign.

The statement came after reports emerged that skipper Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi were at loggerheads after facing a last-ball defeat against Sri Lanka in their must-win Super Fours match on September 14 in the Asia Cup.

“During the last two and a half years, we have worked a lot on it. Before that, everything would come out on TV before the players would leave the dressing room,” Wasim said.

Those who would leak the team meeting talks are not part of the team anymore, he revealed.

For him, the team management should distribute the responsibilities and every person should do his job.

Wasim urged Head Coach Mickey Arthur to join the team to provide support to skipper Babar Azam who has a lot on his plate. “Babar is playing alone due to which his captaincy is getting affected and he is not able to give the performance that he should give in crunch matches.”

Former Pakistan cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq said that players and team staff are the saddest when a team loses a match.

“It should not be a problem if Babar spoke harshly. We are going to the World Cup. We need to support the boys who are talented and will play [better], he added.

Mushtaq also took a dig at those who reported the alleged verbal exchange between players and the captain after Pakistan was knocked out of the Asia Cup.

“You are doing a great job spreading the news; true or false. You are a well wisher of the team and a patriot. You should have a million followers,” he stated.
