Saudi Arabia to boost cooperation with Bangladesh, says crown prince

Saudi Arabia would work together with Bangladesh to enhance cooperation in all possible areas, said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, New Age reported.

This came during a meeting with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the sidelines of the G20 summit in New Delhi on Sunday.

The Bangladesh foreign ministry described the meeting as “very fruitful”. The ministry added that the Saudi crown prince praised Bangladesh’s PM for her leadership in achieving “remarkable socio-economic development in the country over the recent years”.

The crown prince, who is often referred to by his initials MBS, expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing investment made by Saudi investors in various projects in Bangladesh.

Nearly 2.8 million Bangladeshis were making significant contributions to Saudi Arabia’s economy with their hard work and due diligence, he told the Bangladesh PM.

Salman also thanked Hasina for supporting the kingdom to become the host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

In May, the Asian Football Confederation president, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al-Khalifa, said the body wanted to host another World Cup, in 2030 or 2034, and that “Saudi Arabia is coming in force”. The Saudi Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, told AFP in February that his country had not submitted a candidacy file, but added that “anything is possible.”

The Bangladesh premier congratulated the Saudi crown prince for embarking on and achieving a number of social reforms in Saudi Arabia and for attaining many diplomatic successes in recent times.

She also invited him to visit Bangladesh. Crown Prince Salman accepted her invitation and expressed his willingness to undertake a visit to Bangladesh.
