Seven terrorists killed in Chitral gun battle: ISPR

At least seven terrorists were killed and another six were critically injured during an exchange of fire with security forces in the area of Ursoon, Chitral district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Sunday.

“Our troops effectively engaged terrorists location and after intense exchange of fire, seven terrorists were killed, while another six were critically injured,” said the statement issued by the military’s media wing.

It added that sanitisation of the area was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.

“Locals of the area appreciated the operation by the security forces and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country,” it said.

On September 6, security forces killed 12 terrorists after they attacked two border posts in the Chitral district. Four Pakistani soldiers were martyred in the clash.

The military posts were located closer to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the general area Kalash of the district.

The statement from the ISPR then said that the interim Afghan government was expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetrating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.

Interim Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani confirmed on Saturday that Pakistan handed over a demarche to the senior Afghan diplomat over the terrorist attack on two border posts.
