According to the police, traffic was restored on routes from Qayyumabad to Shahrah-e-Faisal and from Shahrah-e-Faisal to Korangi.

School vans, motorists, and drivers were stuck in a traffic jam at Karachi’s Baloch Colony bridge on Thursday afternoon due to protests against the unavailability of water and inflated power bills.

The traffic jam caused agony to commuters.

It merits here to mention that several schools were located on this route and students nearby also take this route for going home.

According to reports, the traffic was jammed for over three hours.

In a social media post, the Karachi police also shared an update on the traffic jam at the main arteries of the city.

Earlier, there were reports that traffic was jammed in Korangi Industrial Area, Shahid-e-Millat, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Mehmoodabad, and streets of Manzoor Colony.

Women were also among the protesters. They claimed that their areas had been without electricity for the last two days and added that they blocked the road after K-Electric staff asked them to do so as it would resolve their issues.

Several children were reported to be suffering from agony when some people distributed biscuits and bottles of water among them. There were reports that many vehicles stuck in the traffic jam ran out of fuel.

Meanwhile, the women members of Jamaat-e-Islami were protesting on MA Jinnah Road against the exorbitant power bills. The route from Dawood University to Saddar was closed for traffic while two-way traffic was going from the other side of the road.
