British girl death: Sara’s father ‘willing to surrender’ to Pakistani police

Urfan Sharif, fugitive father of 10-year-old Sara Sharif who was found dead at her home, will soon surrender to the police in Pakistan, Daily Mail quoted victims’s grandfather as saying.

The British authorities launched a global manhunt after police discovered Sara’s body with a catalogue of injuries at the £500,000 council house in Woking, Surrey, following a phone call made by Sharif, 41, on August 10.

The Surrey police started a murder investigation after the discovery of the body while saying that the three suspects they wanted to speak to in connection with the murder had fled the country.

Sharif, his wife Beinash Batool, 29, and his brother Faisal Malik, 28, fled the UK to Islamabad a day before her body was found.

Sara’s “anxious” mother had urged her ex-husband to give up and turn himself into the police.

Sara’s grandfather Muhammad Sharif told The Mirror from Jehlum, “As far as I know, my son and his wife are willing to surrender and they will do so soon”.

He claimed he had not seen his son since he fled to Pakistan and had no idea how Sara died. “I want them to surrender soon as because of the police raids and investigations all of my family is in deep trouble,” Sharif said.

“I don’t know where they are but I can tell that they are not in Jehlum”.

Sara’s mother Olga Sharif has been in contact as the Pakistani police chase Sharif, his wife and brother.

“Until he is arrested I can’t have any sense of closure or security. It’s been a very anxious wait,” she said.

Jhelum police chief Nasir Bajwa on August 26 revealed the police were closing in on the group. “With God’s will, we will make the arrest by tomorrow night.”

Sources in Jhelum earlier this month told Aaj News that shortly after arriving in Jhelum, Urfan and other family members vanished from their house as the Federal Investigation Agency and the police launched a manhunt.

Urfan’s brother Imran Sharif told MailOnline that Urfan fell out with him after marrying Olga.

“After reaching Pakistan he came to us and instantly disappeared. He did not bring his family to our home. Some people say he is hiding somewhere in Jhelum in a rented house, but others said he may be gone to Mirpur where his in-laws are living,” said Imran.

He also suggested that Urfan might have gone to Mirpur in the Azad Kashmir region where his in-laws, Beenish’s parents, live.
