Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has once again put off plans to return to the country once again after deciding against a September return.

Sources said that the decision not to return to Pakistan in September was taken in a meeting with Shehbaz Sharif in London.

The Pakistan Mulsim League Nawaz chief has now been given a new recommendation. If elections are to take place in February or March next year, he will return in October or November.

However, the plan for Nawaz to land in Lahore when he doe return is intact.

The two also discussed the party’s political strategy and the country’s current political atmosphere in the meeting.

Nawaz has been in self-imposed exile since 2019, when he was allowed to travel abroad on medical grounds. He has spent the time mostly in London and has occasinally travelled to UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Multiple plans for his return have been made and shelved. Meanwhile, the prvious government managed to amend laws to end his lifetime disqualifiaction for running for public office. However, his legal troubles have not completely ended.
