Soldiers from the Special Services Group and the locals who who participated in the operation were given certificates of recognition by Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.

A broken cable had left eight people stranded in a cable car in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Battagram. All eight were brought to safety after a 15-hour long operation.

Apart from SSG commandos, many locals and zipline experts as well as Rescue 1122 officials had taken part in the operation.

Prizes were also given out to the students who were left stranded in the cable car by the prime minister.

Speaking after the award distribution, PM Kakar said that the whole country prayed for the saftey of those stuck in the cable car and his hear continuously sank while thinking of the incident.

He also described the students as the ‘architects of the future’. He added that the children stuck in the lift reminded him of his own son.

Kakar also said that the whole world had watched the operation with bated breath and that the ‘best’ strategy was emplyed to complete the rescue.

He said that the world wanted to see how Pakistan would solve a crisis that confronted it and it had been shown that those who were willing to sacrifice their lives for the country are its heroes.
