“After an incredible journey, I’ve decided to retire from international cricket. Big thank you to PCB, my family, coaches, mentors, teammates, fans, and everyone who supported me,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Riaz has taken 237 in the international matches for Pakistan and 1,104 wickets across all formats. He is the highest wicket-taker in Pakistan Super League history, and the first Pakistani to have more than 400 wickets in T20 format.

He was appointed as the caretaker sports minister of Punjab in the interim setup in January.

Governor Baligh Ur Rehman administered the oath of new Punjab cabinet members at the Governor House in Lahore.

The fast bowler rose to fame when he delivered one of his best performances as he bagged a five-wicket haul against India in the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup.
